PHOTOGRAPHY: BOMOKO - REFUGEES BAND.
Since the WW II, the world has never witnessed so many people forced to escape their own countries: There are more than 65 million displaced people worldwide. In addition, prejudice and indifference are growing in many countries, increasing negative perceptions towards refugees.
In the middle of this crisis, igniting positive conversations and engaging the world to support refugees throughout music could be a great idea. Music is one of the best ways to deliver a message of hope and love to the world. This language doesn’t require any translation.
That’s why BOMOKO band was created. A band of 8 refugees musicians, from different parts of the world, playing a repertoire of international songs that share humanitarian messages, love, equality, diversity and peace. They also have their own songs. They play several instruments like guitar, electric bass, keyboard, accordion, drums and various African, Caribbean and Latin American percussion instruments.
The refugee musicians live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They will be the owners of their band and will be working to make a living out of it and, hopefully, make profit to help other causes as well.
